NO LONGER A BABY

Last night was a time for celebration here at home. Last night officially marked our diaper-free days! Yup! Ethan finally pooed in the toilet! Yay!

Last night, Ethan told me he wanted to pee. He's been peeing in the toilet for some months now but when he tries to poo, he gets so impatient after 30 seconds of sitting on the kiddie toilet seat so he asks for a diaper instead. So last night, when I accompanied him to the bathroom, I was surprised to see him reach for the kiddie seat. I asked him, "Are you going to weewee or poopoo?" He did not say anything but sat on the toilet seat. I did press the issue further because I want to encourage him to sit on the toilet for as long as possible. So I told him I would be back and I went to the room to get a diaper as a "just in case". When I got back to the bathroom, I was expecting him to be washing his hands (because sometimes, he just pees while sitting on the toilet seat and after that, he goes down and washes his hands) but he was still sitting so I decided to take a peek. And would you believe it? He did his first number 2!! Talk about giving mommy a surprise! I was really happy and proud of him! He did all that without prompting from me, without instructions, without pressure! He did that because he wanted to! I was so proud of him! I kept saying, "You did it, Ethan! You pooed in the toilet! You're such a good boy! I'm really proud of you!" And of course I gave him lots of kisses. He was pretty happy himself because he was smiling at me and kissed me back. Then I washed his butt and he said, "Ay, bahu!" (smelly!) and I just laughed.

When we got back to the room, I emailed Ruther about it. And here's what he said (in am email I received this morning): "That's great! Ethan is really big now... He's not a baby anymore... I'm so happy too! I love you all!" Isn't that the proud dad? =D
