MINNIE
A few weeks ago, Nikki and I heard pitiful mewls outside our gate. Urging me to check on the noise, Nikki and I went outside to see this tiny little kitten, all scraggly and thin and looking very, very pitiful. To make the story short and to make sure the kitten survived the coming rains (she would have died for sure), we adopted her - much to Nikki's joy and Ruther's chagrin. Three black spots on her back forming a triangle urged us to name her Mickey but when we found out she was well, a SHE, we decided Minnie was not a bad idea. It feels weird having to feed her and play with her and interact with her. It feels weird that after taking care of two boys, i now have another "infant" in my hands. But seeing Nikki's enthusiasm with a pet and seeing her grow stronger and livelier everyday, makes me feel good that i did this little thing to help Minnie survive. She is not all better yet. She still has to grow stronger, gain more weight and learn how to eat solids. At present, she still has to overcome a strange malady taking over her health. It won't be easy for her (or ME!) but I do hope that in the end, she will pull through, be strong, and become well enough to be our pet.
