ELECTIONS

In a few hours, it will be election time in the Philippines. I am not a registered voter because during the registration, I was in Japan. I think it was for the best because I don't want to vote. It's not that I refuse to. It's just that I have no idea whom to vote for.

You might say that I'm not a very responsible citizen. But I beg to differ. I AM concerned. I am concerned about crime, about the poor people in the slums, about the garbage problems in some areas, about food shortage, about lack of classrooms in public schools, about traffic problems in the metro, about pollution (really worried about this big time), about preserving the environment and others. The reason why I wouldn't vote (if I were registered) is because I have no interest in politics. Again, it's not that I refuse to know about it, but it just confuses me a lot. I dislike the legal terms, the red tape, the graft and corruption, the wheelings and dealings of some shady government official... all those either make my blood boil or make me sooo depressed. So, I opt to skip those parts in the newspapers. I don't want to pretend that I want to know about politics because I know I will just hate myself in the end if I do so. I don't want to feed myself all these information, not be able to comprehend it or feel bad about it and then make a decision about the government just because Mr. Somebody said something about it or Miss Someone expressed her opinion about a certain official. I want to be able to decide for myself. And I know I can't do that because I don't like politics, I find it too complicated and frankly, and I hate to admit it, the Philippine government sucks. And I'm not trying to sugar-coat it. So yes, I'm quite glad that I won't be voting this time. We'll see how things turn up later on. Hopefully this time, the good guys stay.

I hope.

I agree...

Honestly, even If I'm a registered voter which am not (i never register or vote ever since, I think am bad yikes!) I don't feel like voting.

it's as if the freedom to vote has lost its value. Philippine is a such a beautiful country, Filipinos are one of the most hardworking people in the world. It just too BAD that there are some leaders who always think of themselves first than the country and people they're suppose to be serving..

i suppose i will only vote if I feel strongly about it. i don't want to push myself to do something just because other people are doing so. if i feel in my heart that i should do it, then i will vote. but definitely not now... =(
