Last night, I read a blog of a girl from Singapore. She visited the Philippines last Christmas with her family and it was her first time there. I laughed when she wrote that she found it weird that it starts to get dark there at around 5:30 in the afternoon. She sounded really shocked and was worried that her curfew would change from 7:30 to 5:30 because of the earlier setting time of the sun. Well, I felt the same way as the girl did (well, i did not find the experience weird exactly, but a bit new) when I noticed the change in seasons here in Japan. As summer ended and settled into autumn, I noticed that the days got shorter and shorter. Right now, it gets dark at 4:30 in the afternoon. That's still new to me and I always check my watch for the correct time. It's so much easier in the Philippines when sunrise and sunset are almost constant. When you see light outside the window, you know it's dawn. When the sky turns orange, you know it'll be dark soon. Sometimes, you don't need a watch anymore.
I think it's nice to read blogs of other people. It opens my eyes to the world, makes me learn new things and just bridges the gap between countries.
